haha. I don't clean the keyboard. I do turn it upside down and shake it every once in a while.

That's why you need to take LifeHacker posts with a grain of salt. It's not everything that you see on the hacker that you can implement. lol

My keyboard was rather simple. The space bars and other keys popped off pretty nice. Except for the lil' metal parts that slide under the clips. I remember breaking a lot of those clips on my older keyboard.

It always seems that when I try to clean stuff I end up breaking something. Reminds me of when my car got scratched 10 minz after coming from the car wash...Go figure.

And Johnny, I won't be doing this anytime in the near future. The deepest that I'd go is keys with some air. That's it.

Boy, it seems like those guys at lifehacker owe you a new keyboard. Or perhaps next time you will want to look for a keyboard specific guide on the interwebs. (Yes, I said interwebs.) Remember that not all keyboards are alike and any complexity will add to the difficulty of disassembling and reassembling. Good luck in the future. Now you know how to do it right.

I would be completely rolling around on the floor laughing right now except that I have done this before. Twice. Once when my wife spilled dr pepper into her brand new $120 keyboard, and the second time when my wife spilled dr pepper into her one day old $120 keyboard.

You did it excacly right, Baz, except that I took compressed air and hit all the electrical components with it to make sure it was dry before I put it back together. I'm sure this is what happened to yours.
And did your "space" bar have a funny looking wire in it to provide the spring for it? That's how hers was. You had to twist it the exact right direction to be able to get it to come back up when you pushed it.

Great post, Baz.
