I Love Criminal Shows
One thing everyone should know is that I’m a CSI freak:
- CSI
- CSI Miami
- CSI New York
I love these shows. I’m also a sucker for any shows like CSI:
- NCIS
- Law and Order - SVU
- Law and Order - CI
- Shark
- Cold Case
- Without a Trace
- Close to Home (did they cancel this?)
- Criminal Minds
- Even Bones
Wow, that’s at least 13 hours of television every week. That’s 52 hours or over two (2) straight days a month. That also works out to ten (10) straight days every season/year. That’s a lot investment in television, huh?
It’s my version of a woman’s soap opera; sorry ladies. I know a lot of people hate these shows; calling them fake and unreal. Yes everyone knows that it takes weeks, sometimes even months to process DNA evidence. All the equipment costs tons of money and you don’t just pull out that stuff for any John Doe that turns up dead on the street. There’s even mention of the CSI Effect, where juries in real life cases tend to expect all the fancy stuff they see in these shows.
After years of watching these shows, I’ve picked up a few pointers here and there. I mean, they all work off of a baseline of rules. If you follow these simple rules, you too can escape the clutches even the most ambitious CSI.
1. Wear Gloves
That’s a given, isn’t it? You can get a box of latex gloves for a few bucks in the store. Stay away from leather: learned that from OJ. Latex gloves have that powdery substance on the insides. It’s supposed to absorb the excess moisture from your hands, but they also have the added benefit of preventing your prints from remaining on the insides.
Cotton gloves are also a great investment.

As to what possessed me; it’s any body’s guess really, but I did it.
As if I didn’t have enough work to do this weekend, I noticed that that new version of Ubuntu had been released on the 18th; Ubuntu 7.10. There were a lot of reviews about how it’s so much better and makes life so much simpler than the previous versions.
So like an idiot, I dropped all the projects that I had waiting and decided to poke around Ubuntu. I figured, “how long can this take anyway?”. Well, there’s a process involved.
Understanding My Windows Setup
When I got my new computer, I got a 250 GB SATA drive, which I partitioned down the middle. This is my main drive that I use for Windows XP. The first partition is the operation system and programs and the second partition holds data, music, etc.
I also had my old 120 GB IDE that was also partitioned down the middle. On this drive I have a bunch of stuff (files, downloads, movies, music, etc) that I’ve collected over the last four (4) years. I’m scared to throw out anything, because you never know. I think what I need is one very specific hard drive crash (knock on wood) that would just clear out all that data that I think I need.

Now I’m not usually a health nut. Usually the opposite, actually. But one thing I love to death is Muesli. When I was back home and my mom had some extra money, she’d buy me some Muesli and I’d be in heaven. I liked the raisins, oats, and bits of banana. Since I’ve been up here, I’ve actually gone as far as ordering some online. Kellogg’s has an imitation, Mueslix, but it doesn’t quite cut it. After all, it’s crunchy.
I stumbled upon some granola, Kashi Orchard Spice Granola, so I decided to try it out. I paid a whopping three ($3) bucks for a tiny lil’ 13oz box, but I was hoping it would taste good. I got home from the store and dumped some into a bowl. I couldn’t wait. My mouth was practically watering.
But then after I filled up my bowl and put down the box, something felt wrong. The box felt incredibly light and it was only one bowl. Half the box was gone! I was pissed. There was one more bowl left in the dumb box. I picked up the box to check how many were supposed to be in there; it said seven (7) servings were supposed to be in the box. A serving in 1/2 a cup.

I’ve decided to take a different route with respect to the way I publicize my RSS feeds. Before, I had a chicklet on the side, with tons of options for readers. This had its purpose, but I think that it’s time for a change.
Why You Ask?
I’ve been to certain sites and I never use the chicklets. My preference is Google Reader, but I don’t usually click the Google Reader chicklet. This is because I have my browser (Firefox) configured to add any RSS link to Google Reader.
You can also configure Internet Explorer 7 to do the same thing, so one needs to ask, what’s the purpose of the chicklet?
The chicklet also posed the problem of having too many links that many users don’t use. At least that’s my thought.
Tell Me What You Think
As usual, I’d love to know what you guys think:

Now I’ve been reading tons of stuff about other people’s experiences with the BoA, but I personally haven’t hadn’t had any problems with them. Up until last week, they’d been my best credit card account. They are my lowest APR that I have on any card, with a relatively high limit, so everything has been great actually. They also have a pretty good Bill Pay program; and therein lies the problem.
The BoA Strikes
Right now my BoA account has a very nice equilibrium going. It’s like a well-balanced ecosystem, where any outside stimuli is gonna cause things to spiral out of control. I have all my outgoing bills set up through the eBill Bill Pay system, including my car payment and internet payment. Because I know the exact amount of every bill, I’ve set up the amount of the incoming payment to the credit card to be the exact amount I need, so the account always goes back to zero (0) by the time the account is due.
