I always read it was 45 MPH. However even if it's 25, you have to consider how often are you going to be doing 25 while driving? What happens at those long lights?

Please understand, I'm not saying that I'm going to have my windows down when it hits 99 degrees, but when I can, I try to take in the cool fresh air where I can get it.

Nice observation. I read somewhere a couple of weeks ago that when you are driving over 25MPH the A/C doesn't affect your MPG as long as your windows are up. I am like you, I rarely use the A/C unless I absolutely have to. After reading that article, I excuse myself and turn on the A/C in the car as long as I am doing over 25MPH. I cannot say I have reached a definite conclusion on how my car's gas consumption has been affected.
