Remember The Milk DST Issues Resolved

Not sure how many of you use Remember The Milk. It’s an online task manager, basically.

  • Manage tasks quickly and easily.
  • Get reminded, anywhere.
  • Plan your time.
  • Organize the way you want to.
  • Work together to get things done.
  • Add tasks wherever you are.
  • Take your tasks with you.
  • Search your tasks the smart way.
  • Locate your tasks.
  • Enjoy getting organized.

Now there are a lot of features on this time, but I don’t use it a 1/4 of its full potential. All I use it for is for daily (weekdaily mainly) tasks. Since I have an unlimited text message and SMS plan with my cell phone service provider, I have it forward all my tasks to my cell phone. The main one of these tasks is our daily status meeting. Although I have it set up on Outlook at work, I just need that vibrating reminder so that I can get off my butt and head over to the meeting.

Everything has been going great except for this whole Day Light Savings Time thing. Since we’ve hit it three weeks early this year, all the dates were screwed up.

Online Password Management - PassPack

PassPack

Now I’ve seen a number of people talking about PassPack. It’s, well, an online password management system. You can store all your passwords here s othat in the rare event that you forget them, you’ll have something to fall back on.

Now, not trying to be difficult, but I just don’t feel comfortable with the whole idea. I’ll give a try anyways and I’ll keep you guys posted But my real use for it would be for those User IDs that some sites think they need to give you: long and numerical. Can’t I just pick a username like I do on thousands of other sites? Oh well. My web host seems to find it funny to dynamically generate my FTP login. I wonder if that’s because I have the cheapest plan possible?

Forget Flying, Save Money on Trips By Swimming

So you live in Wichita Falls, TX and you decide Easter is coming up so you’re going to take some time off and go on vacation. Paris, France should be nice this time of your right? So you head over to Orbitz.com and look up the cost of a flight only to be disappointed at the outrageous cost of tickets right now. What’s the alternative? You could always swim.

Hey, it’s not my idea. It comes straight from our friends at Google Maps. So I was trying to find out how long it takes to get from Wichita Falls, to Paris, TX. The guys at Google thought it would be funny to map out my trip to Paris, TX instead.

swim_across_atlantic.gifNow here’s the real hilarious part, check out step 30: “Swim across the Atlantic”. Yes people, we’re swimming. This from the same people who brought you error messages such as “Oops, something went wrong. Try again in a few minutes” or “Keep your fingers crossed and try again”. So I guess it’s really not that unexpected. Very funny though. Click the images for a direct link to the map.

LinkMania - March 4, 2007

Brought to you complements LifeHacker:

  • Haggle Like a Pro: 5 Lines That Work - I could have used this when Lava an I went down to get the car. Although we didn’t have a resource like this I still think we did alright. I just missed the part on silence.
  • How to Plan a Homework Schedule - Even though I’ve had this, I still wouldn’t have used it. What I’ve learned from life and many years of school is that I’m my own worst enemy when it comes to prioritizing work. I mean stuff gets done eventually, but usually under a lot stress and most of it the night before. After starting work, I think I need to stop this.
  • How do I freeze? - Wow, a guide to freezing stuff. This is for you guys with the deep freezers and for guys like me who just stick everything in a container or ZipLock bag and just smell it when I get it.
  • TaskList.org - A beautiful long list of programs that show up in your Task Manager. This site gives descriptions and lets you know whether or not you really need the software. But most importantly it tells you whether you’re dealing with SpyWare or not.
